Bradley Martyn is a huge name and influence in the bodybuilding and fitness world. Unlike many large names in bodybuilding, his focus is on social media and spreading his passion for fitness online. Bradley is primary social media resource, where most of his content is created, is on his youtube channel. Although he has more than double the Instagram followers than he has youtube subscribers, the density of content is much higher on youtube. We will solely be looking at his Instagram page though. His Instagram page is primarily daily pictures and videos, usually involving some sort of picture in the gym or some video of a crazy exercise that he's doing. Every now and then he'll post a funny picture making fun of himself or current events, to keep the mood light and fun. What does he do well?
Without a doubt, Bradley posts some of the most original, unique and diverse fitness content than the vaste majority online. What he is arguably best at is creating videos that feature him doing ridiculous feats of strength. Here is an example where he is hack squatting 900lbs and checking his phone at the same time. He also manages to keep some of his pictures outside of the gym very entertaining, just as much as the ones in the gym. What can he improve on?
Although, in my opinion, he has great content and there isn't much he could improve on, there are some aspects that he could. As it was mentioned, he has a youtube channel, the videos of which are used in snippets throughout his instagram page. When he posts one of these videos, he should change the link in his bio to the one where the video can be found and mention it in the caption. This will help guide some of his 1.7M followers to his youtube channel, potentially gaining new subscribers. This in turn will help it grow, further expanding his social media opportunities and influence. Although he does this every couple of posts, it should be done for every video. Also, a minor detail but one that can be improved on, is the fact that in quite a few of his captions he tells the onlookers to like the picture or to comment. To many this comes off as slightly needy and overbearing, perhaps turning them off from his content and from doing exactly what he wanted. This shouldn't be done because people will like his pictures no matter what and trying to coerce them may have negative consequences.
There are a few ways that Bradley is monetizing his account. To start at the top, in his bio he talks about how he is an online personal trainer and can provide you with meal plans and exercise programs online. This is one way he can advertise his programs to get more clients. Now, when it comes to his post, in the caption space he is always references some of his other Instagram accounts, in order to gain more following there to further expand his social media reach and influence. In addition to this, he also has several posts where he is wearing his own gear, further advertising it. One more thing when it comes to his posts, sometimes he will put a screenshot form a youtube video of his to directly advertise it. Overall, Bradley Martyn is capable of using his large Instagram presence and following to aggregate all of his social media presences and business efforts in order to advertise himself and have it all on display in one place.
